Fisiopatología del bruxismo nocturno. Factores endógenos y exógenos.

RESUMEN
El bruxismo es una parafunción muscular que pone en riesgo muchos de los tratamientos que realiza el odontólogo y por lo cual representa un reto, no sólo para su tratamiento sino también para su diagnóstico. Actualmente la etiología del bruxismo se ha vuelto muy compleja de definir, ya que las diversas teorías sustentan que son muchos los factores que lo provocan; la clasificación etiológica depende del momento en el que se presenta; si es durante la vigilia, se llama bruxismo diurno o en vigilia; si es durante el sueño, se llama bruxismo nocturno o del sueño. El objetivo de este artículo es identificar los factores directos e indirectos que provocan el bruxismo nocturno, describir los procesos fisiopatológicos que envuelven este tipo de disfunción y cómo se relaciona con las enfermedades bucales.
