RESUMEN

El dolor crónico postoperatorio (DCPO) es motivo frecuente de consulta, tiene alta prevalencia y es incapacitante. El DCPO se asocia a la intensidad del dolor agudo postoperatorio y algunas cirugías específicas. Una adecuada analgesia perioperatoria, con manejo multimodal del dolor agudo que involucre la anestesia regional son pilares para prevenir y disminuir la incidencia.
