Complicaciones ocasionadas por la infiltración accidental con una solución de hipoclorito de sodio

RESUMEN
La solución de hipoclorito de sodio es ampliamente usada como un agente irrigante en la práctica endodóntica debido a su capacidad disolvente sobre tejidos necróticos y vitales y su actividad antiséptica. Sin embargo, es bien conocido que puede desencadenar reacciones inflamatorias severas sobre los tejidos vitales adyacentes; por lo tanto, su uso debe ser confinado al interior de los conductos radiculares.
El propósito de este artículo fue revisar las complicaciones ocasionadas por el uso del hipoclorito de sodio y presentar el caso clínico de una infiltración accidental de esta solución química a nivel de tejidos blandos que ocasionó necrosis ósea, pérdida de piezas dentarias y comunicación bucosinusal.
