Algunos procedimientos endoluminales para el tratamiento de la obesidad

RESUMEN
El tratamiento de la obesidad está signado por múltiples caminos terapéuticos, y el
avance tecnológico ha permitido el desarrollo de técnicas de tipo restrictivas, de
carácter funcional y mecánico, así como otras de tipo malabsortivas, las cuales se
comportan de forma poco agresivas, en comparación con las empleadas en la
cirugía bariátrica convencional, y que por sus resultados alentadores comienzan a
tener aceptación. En el artículo se describen algunos de los procedimientos
endoluminales para el tratamiento de la obesidad. Se hace mención a las
indicaciones generales de este tratamiento, sus mecanismos de acción y posibles
contraindicaciones, así como su utilidad, pero se enfatiza que su elección debe ser
individualizada, en función de lograr resultados deseables, y en relación con las
características del paciente.
