Causas de demora en la atención de pacientes con complicaciones obstétricas ¿qué es necesario atender?

RESUMEN
Antecedentes: las muertes maternas se originan por diferentes causas
y una de ellas es la demora en la atención.
Objetivo: construir un marco de análisis que permita identificar los
factores no abordados en la investigación, en la búsqueda de un modelo
preventivo del riesgo materno.
Material y método: estudio retrospectivo efectuado con base en la
búsqueda de artículos y revisiones en cuatro bases de datos (Pubmed,
EBSCO, Web of Science y Google Scholar) para identificar referencias
relacionadas con la demora en la atención de pacientes que tuvo como
consecuencia la muerte de la madre.
Resultados: se analizaron tres clases de demora: 1) en la búsqueda de
ayuda, 2) en alcanzar la ayuda y 3) en el diagnóstico y tratamiento. Las
principales causas de la primera demora fueron: la falta de decisión en
buscar ayuda al momento de la complicación (79%) y no reconocer
los signos de alarma de la complicación (82.1%). La segunda demora
se debió, principalmente, a la falta de transporte (92.3%) al momento
del traslado a otro hospital. La tercera demora se relacionó con la baja
calidad del cuidado en los servicios de salud (63%).
Conclusiones: hacen falta intervenciones educativas que integren el
conocimiento de los signos de alarma con las condiciones de género,
adaptadas a cada contexto.
