A treinta y cinco años de la introducción de la angio plastia coronaria por Andreas Gruntzig en 1977, la controversia entre el intervencionismo coronario y la revascularización quirúrgica sigue firmemente instalada en la comunidad cardiológica internacional. Las su-cesivas generaciones de
stents coronarios, y la apa-rición de nuevos y más potentes fármacos que complementan su acción mecánica, abonan el terreno para el cada vez más agresivo y radical posicionamiento del intervencionismo.
