Papilomavirus humano, su asociación a lesiones Anogenitales en el hombre

RESUMEN
Introducción: los cánceres anogenitales, así como sus lesiones precursoras, están fuertemente asociadas a la infección por Papilomavirus humano (VPH). La prevalencia a nivel mundial de estos virus, en hombres sin lesiones clínicamente visibles ha sido reportada hasta en un 73 %. La incidencia de la verruga genital presenta una tendencia creciente a nivel mundial. La frecuencia de aparición de los cánceres de pene y anal fue cerca del 50 % y del 80-85 % respectivamente.
Objetivos: abordar la prevalencia de los VPH, lesiones asociadas a la infección por estos virus en el tracto anogenital masculino, así como la acción de la circuncisión y el uso del condón en la prevención de dichas lesiones.
Resultados: los VPH 16 y 18 fueron los tipos más frecuentes en lesiones pre-malignas y malignas, los genotipos 6 y 11 se comportaron de la misma manera en las verrugas ano-genitales. La circuncisión y el uso del condón mostraron un papel protector tanto para la adquisición de la infección por VPH en hombres como la aparición de lesiones en el tracto anogenital femenino asociadas a estos virus.
Conclusiones: existe una fuerte asociación entre los VPH y la aparición de lesiones benignas, pre-malignas y malignas en el tracto anogenital masculina.
