RESUMEN
La prevención en los padecimientos crónicos, implica tener en consideración no sólo el riesgo de que una enfermedad como la caries dental se inicie, sino que se reactive, cuando se da por supuesto que está controlado totalmente. La investigación sobre métodos y técnicas para mejorar la valoración del riesgo asociado a la caries dental permitirá a los cirujanos dentistas y a sus pacientes desarrollar actividades de prevención y control de la caries dental, adecuadas a cada caso particular.
