Introducción
Este panel ha revisado la indicación y duración de los antibióticos orales para la infección articular periprotésica (IAP) en las siguientes situaciones:
1) En la IAP (aguda, temprana o tardía) tratada con desbridamiento sin retiro del implante y con recambio de los componentes modulares, siempre y cuando los componentes se puedan retirar de forma segura. En general, estas infecciones no requieren tratamiento antibiótico supresor (TAS), entendida como el empleo de antibióticos orales para el tratamiento de la recidiva de los síntomas y/o falla de la función en pacientes portadores de material protésico.
