Mecanismos neuroendocrinos al inicio de la pubertad

RESUMEN
Con el término «pubertad» hace referencia a los cambios somáticos y emocionales que acompañan al proceso de maduración sexual. La condición biológica que la define depende de los componentes endocrinológicos del sistema de reproducción: el que involucra al hipotálamo, la hipófisis y las gónadas. Los mecanismos fisiológicos que explican el porqué de la aparición de la pubertad, en la última década han sido motivo de investigación, logrado a este respecto avances importantes; en este documento se hace una revisión bibliográfica de los aspectos más recientes acerca del control central de la pubertad, que ayudará a entender mejor la evolución de las variantes normales y su fisiopatología ante una condición anormal.
