Neurogénesis de células progenitoras de la zona subventricular

RESUMEN
Desde la etapa embrionaria la zona subventricular juega un papel importante en la formación del sistema nervioso central, de esta zona parten las diferentes capas de la corteza cerebral. Aun después del desarrollo embrionario, esta zona se mantiene activa, produciendo neuronas que viajan al bulbo olfatorio. Al igual que las células de la zona subgranular del giro dentado del hipocampo, existen líneas de investigación a fin de comprender mejor la neurogénesis dado su potencial en el tratamiento de enfermedades neurodegenerativas y donde hay dańo neuronal agudo. La neurogénesis se evalúan principalmente en términos de proliferación, diferenciación, determinación y sobrevivencia celular.
