Bebidas “energizantes”, educación social y salud

RESUMEN
Introducción: El presente artículo es una revisión temática que describe las principales características de las bebidas
“energizantes” (BE) y su comercialización, bajo la premisa de entender los riesgos que conlleva su consumo, especialmente
cuando no se restringe su cantidad, la consumen personas afectadas de su salud o se mezclan con drogas legales
o ilegales, lo que fundamenta el debate respecto a su utilidad.
Objetivo: Se describen, asimismo, los efectos de los
múltiples ingredientes de las BE, con base en opiniones documentadas; se plantean recomendaciones para limitar su
consumo combinado con tóxicos en las poblaciones juveniles o adultas jóvenes que las ingieren; se clarifica el contexto de
su consumo y la confusión prevaleciente, base de la finalidad lucrativa de su producción, partiendo de la falsa ayuda a la
restauración física y bienestar general que sin aval científico, supuestamente propician. Se enfatiza el reconocimiento de
la deliberación de sus productores, que promueve la confusión con las bebidas hidratantes, de merecido nicho de
mercado y eficaz intención reparadora de la salud de los deportistas, y se deplora la participación de las argucias
publicitarias y sus respectivas tramposas intenciones pro venta, que afectan la educación y salud colectiva. La revisión
culmina planteando algunas recomendaciones dirigidas a cobrar conciencia del fenómeno en sus lectores, así como el
adecuado fomento de la educación para la salud, en el personal que labora en esas u otras áreas conectadas con el
bienestar comunitario.
