Resultado positivo de gonadotropina coriónica humana. Consideraciones diagnósticas

RESUMEN

El resultado positivo de la fracción β de la gonadotropina coriónica humana (β-hCG) en mujeres sanas en edad fértil habitualmente indica embarazo. Sin embargo, ese resultado puede asociarse también con diversas afecciones que todos los ginecólogos debemos conocer. Se comunica el caso de una mujer de 41 años de edad, con concentración de β-hCG elevada en ausencia de embarazo, que resultó ser el primer signo de cáncer de pulmón.
