Validación del uso de ecuaciones para estimar la composición corporal por análisis de impedancia bioeléctrica en mujeres postmenopáusicas con síndrome metabólico

RESUMEN
Introducción. Las mujeres posmenopáusicas presentan un aumento en su adiposidad debido al descenso en los estrógenos circulantes, aumentando la prevalencia de factores de riesgo para el síndrome metabólico (SM). Hasta el momento, sólo se han diseñado pocas ecuaciones en mujeres mexicanas para medir la masa grasa (MG) por impedancia bioeléctrica (BIA) y ninguna de las ecuaciones existentes se ha evaluado en mujeres mexicanas posmenopáusicas con SM.
Material y métodos. Se buscó describir la asociación y concordancia entre dos diferentes ecuaciones de BIA: NHANES III y Macías, et al. para estimar la MG en 86 mujeres (42-72 años de edad). A todas las mujeres se les realizó una evaluación antropométrica y de composición corporal a través de BIA; la MG se midió a través de una densitometría (DXA). Se realizaron análisis de diferencia de medias por grupo de edad (‹ 55 años y ≥ 55 años) (t-Student), correlaciones, análisis de regresiones lineales y análisis de concordancia (Bland-Altman).
Resultados. Las dos ecuaciones analizadas mostraron subestimación del %MG al compararlas con la medición de DXA. La ecuación que mostró una mayor correlación y concordancia entre el %MG medido y estimado fue la ecuación de NHANES, en ambos grupos de edad.
Conclusiones. La ecuación de NHANES es válida para estimar la MG por BIA en mujeres mexicanas posmenopáusicas con SM, por lo que se recomienda su uso en la práctica clínica.
