Marcadores tumorales en el cáncer colorrectal

RESUMEN
Introducción: el cáncer colorrectal representó en el 2008 el tercer tumor más diagnosticado en España, siendo la segunda neoplasia con más fallecimientos a nivel mundial, representó el cuarto tumor en incidencia y el quinto en mortalidad. A pesar del continuo crecimiento del número de potenciales biomarcadores en el cáncer colorrectal, existen multitud de desafíos que precisan ser superados, resultando necesaria una estandarización de sus determinaciones.
Discusión: el continuo avance en el conocimiento de la enfermedad tumoral hace que esta revisión trate de ser un compendio actual en los marcadores tumorales aceptados, recomendados y estudiados para el diagnóstico y seguimiento del cáncer colorrectal, como son los marcadores: en heces, tisulares y serológicos, así como diferentes marcadores pronósticos sobre los que existen diferentes líneas de tratamiento.
Conclusiones: las guías oncológicas sólo recomiendan una minoría de marcadores tumorales para su utilización rutinaria y son: el estudio de sangre oculta en heces, la determinación de antígeno carcinoembrionario en el seguimiento postoperatorio, la inestabilidad de los microsatélites para identificar a las personas susceptibles de cáncer colorrectal hereditario no polipósico y la mutación de APC en el diagnóstico de la poliposis adenomatosa familiar.
