La sexagésima primera Asamblea Mundial de Salud efectuada en mayo del 2008, mediante la
resolución WHA 61.8, instó a implementar políticas para reducir los factores de riesgo modificables,
como las dietas no saludables, para la prevención y el control de las enfermedades crónicas no
transmisibles.
