Trabeculoplastia selectiva como alternativa terapéutica en el glaucoma

RESUMEN
Se realiza una revisión bibliográfica sobre la trabeculoplastia selectiva, técnica láser no invasiva y relativamente reciente que se utiliza en el tratamiento del glaucoma de ángulo abierto mediante un equipo de Nd-Yag láser de frecuencia doblada (equipo Laserex Tango LT5106-T Nd: YAG láser, Ellex Medical Pty Ltd para trabeculoplastia selectiva). El incremento de la esperanza de vida de la población hace que aumente la incidencia del glaucoma, una de las primeras causas de ceguera irreversible a nivel mundial. La terapia láser ha revelado ser efectiva en el tratamiento antiglaucomatoso; la trabeculoplastia selectiva es una técnica novedosa, eficaz, selectiva y con pocas complicaciones, lo que motivó la realización de esta investigación con el objetivo de mostrar las indicaciones y las contraindicaciones, los mecanismos de acción, la descripción de la técnica, la efectividad de la misma y sus complicaciones.
