Rehabilitación bucal bajo anestesia general en un niño con síndrome de Hallervorden-Spatz. Informe de un caso

RESUMEN
El síndrome de Hallervorden-Spatz es un raro trastorno neurodegenerativo caracterizado por altos niveles de depósitos de hierro en el
cerebro. Los pacientes afectados muestran manifestaciones extra-piramidales y deterioro cognitivo, así como distonías, crisis epilépticas,
espasticidad, disartria, rigidez de las extremidades y alteraciones visuales. Se describe el caso de un paciente con este síndrome que tenía
múltiples caries y lesiones autoinfligidas de la mucosa del labio inferior y de la lengua durante periodos de intensos espasmos orofaciales.
Fue sometido una rehabilitación bucal bajo anestesia general. El tratamiento estomatológico tuvo por objeto brindar confort, promover la
higiene, evitar el dolor, y eliminar los focos infecciosos.
