Función de la proteasa NS3 del virus de la Hepatitis C

RESUMEN
El virus de Hepatitis C (VHC) es el principal agente causante
de la Hepatitis tipo no-A no-B a nivel mundial. Actualmente
existen 170 millones de personas portadoras del virus en riesgo
de desarrollar cirrosis y cáncer hepático. La proteasa NS3 del
VHC es esencial para la replicación viral y es por tanto uno de
los principales objetivos para el desarrollo de terapias
específicas contra la infección ya que además, es codificada
por uno de los genes con menor variabilidad dentro del genoma
del VHC.
