Fracturas intracapsulares de la cadera

RESUMEN
Introducción: los pacientes con fracturas de cadera debido a la osteoporosis aumentan cada día su frecuencia, un gran grupo de estos enfermos presentan fracturas intracapsulares de la cadera que afectan de forma marcada su estilo de vida y en ocasiones pueden causar la muerte.
Desarrollo: se realizó una revisión bibliográfica acerca del tema con respecto a: clasificación, utilidad e importancia en el manejo; tipos de tratamiento quirúrgico en pacientes jóvenes mediante osteosíntesis, cómo evaluar la reducción, tipos de implantes a utilizar y ventajas de la reducción a cielo abierto. En pacientes ancianos, se mencionan los tipos de artroplastias sus ventajas y desventajas, así como las vías de abordajes y la valoración del uso de cemento óseo. Por último, se muestran los aspectos prácticos de las dos complicaciones tras-operatorias más frecuentes: la irreductibilidad de la prótesis y la fractura del fémur, además de la importancia de la intervención quirúrgica lo antes posible.
Conclusiones: los pacientes con fracturas intracapsulares de la cadera son un gran reto para el grupo médico, donde se conjugan habilidades profesionales y condiciones institucionales para lograr el mejor resultado posible y la incorporación del paciente a la sociedad.
