Índice de necesidad de tratamiento ortodóncico (IOTN)

RESUMEN

La demanda de tratamientos de ortodoncia se ha incrementado en los últimos años a consecuencia de una mejora en la salud bucodental, un incremento en la oferta de profesionales y la evolución de los conceptos socioculturales sobre una oclusión aceptable. Por ello que los especialistas en salud deben enfocar todos sus esfuerzos en el diseño y validación de métodos objetivos de registro y medida de la maloclusión con el fin de conocer la necesidad real de tratamiento ortodóncico de la población y los beneficios obtenidos con dichos tratamientos. Por lo tanto esta investigación contribuirá a la evaluación objetiva de los criterios de necesidad temprana de pacientes de la región de Puebla, específicamente de aquellos que se presentan a la clínica de ortodoncia de la Benemérita Universidad Autónoma de Puebla para ofrecerles un tratamiento ortodóncico adecuado y oportuno.
