RESUMEN
La reducción auricular izquierda con aislamiento de las venas pulmonares y amputación de la orejuela izquierda representa el aspecto crucial en la cirugía para la eliminación de la fibrilación auricular crónica durante el curso de la cirugía valvular mitral. Sin embargo, el riesgo de hemorragia de difícil acceso quirúrgico, así como de daño a la arteria coronaria circunfleja, son factores que hacen que esta técnica quirúrgica no goce de amplia aceptación. El autotrasplante cardíaco parcial permite una excelente visualización de todo el campo operatorio, lo que reduce de manera significativa los riesgos previamente descritos. Se presentan aquí los dos primeros casos operados con éxito a nivel mundial de cirugía valvular mitral y reducción auricular izquierda, mediante técnica de autotrasplante cardíaco parcial para la eliminación de la fibrilación auricular crónica.
