Implicaciones fisiopatológicas entre inflamación crónica y el desarrollo de diabetes y obesidad

RESUMEN
Las diferentes teorías sobre los mecanismos implicados en el desarrollo de enfermedades metabólicas y sus complicaciones confluyen en la presencia etiológica de un estado proinflamatorio crónico. En la actualidad, la inflamación crónica es el mecanismo fisiopatológico central involucrado en la génesis de las enfermedades metabólicas; las múltiples interacciones entre el sistema inmunitario, el tejido adiposo, la pared vascular y el páncreas son los temas por tratar en esta revisión, en la que se abordan los aspectos intracelulares y moleculares que pueden llegar a ser blancos de la nueva terapéutica, toda vez que conducen a estados proinflamatorio, protrombótico y proapoptótico que permiten el daño endotelial, el desarrollo de aterosclerosis y, consecuentemente, la enfermedad cardiovascular. Los múltiples procesos inmunopatológicos vinculados con la etiología y fisiopatología de las diferentes enfermedades crónicas no transmisibles están en proceso de ser completamente dilucidados, lo cual permitirá el desar rollo de nuevos blancos terapéuticos.
