Donación de embriones en países desarrollados

RESUMEN
Los embriones supernumerarios teóricamente tienen tres destinos: la criopreservación, el descarte o la donación. Para este último caso existen tres posibilidades: fines asistenciales (generalmente terapia en infertilidad), fines de investigación (biomédica básica, con finesterapéuticos como desarrollo de células troncales, etcétera), o fines docentes (para embriólogos clínicos en formación). Esta revisión analiza los estudios empíricos realizados en países desarrollados (Alemania, Australia, Bélgica, Canadá, Dinamarca, España, Estados Unidos de América, Finlandia, Francia, Italia, Nueva Zelanda, Reino Unido, Suecia y Suiza), respecto al probable destino de los embriones supernumerarios. Los destinos que más se eligieron fueron el descarte y la donación con fines de investigación.
