Sobre la prevención del asma bronquial en los niños

RESUMEN
Objetivo. Recomendar medidas preventivas para evitar el
asma en los niños, con base en los factores de riesgo que hayan
mostrado mayor consistencia en la literatura.
Resultados. Los factores de mayor riesgo fueron: Antecedentes
de asma en la familia, exposición al humo del tabaco, presencia de
animales domésticos, antecedentes de rinitis y dermatitis atópica, sexo
masculino, exposición al polvo casero y abandono de la lactancia
materna antes del cuarto mes.
Recomendaciones. Se sugiere que las medidas preventivas
comiencen desde la etapa prenatal, especialmente en niños con
riesgo alto (historia familiar, antecedentes de rinitis y dermatitis
atópica, sexo masculino). Se recomienda que las madres reciban
orientación desde el embarazo.
