Aneurisma congénito del seno de Valsalva. Revisión

RESUMEN

El aneurisma del seno de Valsalva roto puede ser causa de insuficiencia cardiaca a cualquier edad, la ruptura afecta principalmente a adolescentes y adultos jóvenes y es más común en hombres. Si bien es una entidad rara, en los últimos años el número de casos reportados ha aumentado considerablemente: 184 casos en tan sólo dos series en los años 2007 y 2008 y más de mil en las últimas décadas. La cardiología intervencionista está participando en la solución de esta entidad y dado que el espectro clínico es muy amplio, y en tanto no ha sido incluida en las guías de práctica clínica, consideramos conveniente hacer una revisión actualizada del tema.
