Equinococosis cardiaca

RESUMEN

La equinococosis es una enfermedad causada en humanos por larvas de las 4 especies de equinococos (E. granulosus, E. multilocularis, E. vogeli y E. oligarthus) que pertenecen al grupo de cestodos (gusanos aplanados). El equinococo produce lesiones quísticas uniloculares y se caracterizan por tener huéspedes intermedios y definitivos, siendo el hombre un huésped accidental. Es prevalente en regiones donde hay criaderos de ganado y los perros son los huéspedes definitivos, que transmiten los huevos en las heces.
