RESUMEN
Definición
El choque cardiogénico es un síndrome que se presenta debido a la falla ventricular izquierda o derecha en forma aguda y grave, que produce hipotensión e hipoperfusión tisular con disfunción celular y multiorgánica progresiva. En la fase temprana, los mecanismos compensatorios pueden mantener un gasto cardiaco y perfusión sistémica marginal; sin embargo, si el proceso que condujo a la falla cardiaca persiste, se establece un círculo vicioso que finalmente conducirá a la disfunción miocárdica progresiva e irreversible.
