Fracturas de la metáfisis proximal de la tibia

RESUMEN
Después de una fractura en tallo verde de la metáfisis proximal, se puede desarrollar una deformidad en valgo que involucra factores, tanto iatrogénicos como biológicos. Los problemas iatrogénicos pueden ser eliminados obteniendo una buena reducción e inmovilizando la extremidad con la rodilla en extensión en un yeso bien moldeado por arriba de la rodilla durante 4-6 semanas. La deformidad resultante se debe manejar hasta el final del crecimiento. Una osteotomía correctiva temprana después de la fractura inicial puede resultar en una recidiva de la deformidad, por lo que no debe hacerse. Los padres deben ser informados, antes de iniciar el tratamiento, de que se puede presentar esta deformidad aunque se realice un excelente tratamiento.
