Ambiente familiar y psicoeducación en el primer episodio de esquizofrenia: Resultados preliminares

RESUMEN
La psicoeducación otorga un entrenamiento para el entendimiento y la resolución de problemas producto de la enfermedad mental, con ello se mejoran el pronóstico y la calidad de vida del paciente.
Objetivo: Establecer el ambiente familiar de un grupo de pacientes con primer episodio de esquizofrenia y determinar las bases de un programa de psicoeducación.
Método: Participaron 50 familiares de pacientes con esquizofrenia del proyecto de seguimiento de primer episodio psicótico. Se evaluó el ambiente familiar mediante el Cuestionario de la Vida Familiar de North-Sachar y un taller de 6 sesiones informativas con la Forma de Evaluación de Taller.
Resultados: Se reportaron limitaciones (34%) en la vida cotidiana de los participantes debido a la enfermedad. El taller fue considerado de utilidad para el manejo de la enfermedad (51.5%).
Discusión: Un programa de psicoeducación fundamentado en las necesidades familiares puede tener influencia sobre el pronóstico de la esquizofrenia.
