Conceptos básicos para el manejo de la asfixia perinatal y la encefalopatía hipóxico-isquémica en el neonato

RESUMEN
La asfixia perinatal es un insulto grave, de etiología variada, que causa encefalopatía hipóxico-isquémica, entre otros daños. Tiene una mortalidad elevada, así como una alta tasa de secuelas neurológicas permanentes, lo que hace que sea un tema muy importante en el área de la neonatología. Este artículo pretende mostrar las definiciones relacionadas al tema y cuya comprensión son de suma importancia legal: la patogénesis y la fisiopatología, que son básicas para comprender el manejo integral de estos pacientes.
