FRAGMENTO

El asma es un padecimiento bronquial crónico que inicia generalmente en la infancia, que tiene un gran impacto en la calidad de vida del que la sufre, que produce importantes alteraciones en la economía y la dinámica familiar, que está aumentando su prevalencia a nivel mundial y que puede alcanzar niveles de severidad que lleven al paciente a la muerte. Es además un padecimiento con alta variabilidad individual, tanto en severidad como en su pronóstico, por lo que es necesario que los médicos encargados de su atención se actualicen y entiendan que es un padecimiento que si se diagnostica tempranamente y se somete a tratamientos y seguimiento de control adecuados, por médicos con experiencia en su manejo, puede controlarse, o inclusive, bajo ciertas condiciones, curarse.
