La importancia del conocimiento del genoma humano para el médico de atención primaria

RESUMEN
Este trabajo destaca la necesidad de que el médico de atención primaria, en su práctica diaria, aplique los conocimientos sobre genética y genómica, y permite reconocer la importancia de incluir el árbol genealógico como herramienta diagnóstica para identificar enfermedades hereditarias, integrar las bases moleculares al conocimiento de los mecanismos que generan las enfermedades, así como incorporar una nueva forma de prevenir enfermedades mediante conceptos novedosos como prevención genómica y prevención fenotípica. También revisa las pruebas que hoy existen para pronosticar, prevenir, diagnosticar y tratar diversas enfermedades.
