RESUMEN
En México los accidentes se ubican entre las primeras cinco causas de muerte en la población general. De éstos, cada vez son más frecuentes los derivados de un trauma de alta energía, en los cuales es común que el paciente polifracturado presente fracturas del anillo pélvico, que son potencialmente mortales debido al sangrado masivo que ocasiona un estado de choque o una falla orgánica múltiple.
