Disfunción tiroidea subclínica. Consideraciones diagnósticas y terapéuticas

RESUMEN
La disfunción tiroidea leve es un diagnóstico bioquímico clasificado como hipotiroidismo e hipertiroidismo subclínicos. Se presenta desde pacientes jóvenes aumentando su frecuencia con la edad, produciendo mayor morbilidad y mortalidad. Para sospechar el diagnóstico es importante conocer algunas manifestaciones clínicas inespecíficas así como las posibles anormalidades en los estudios de laboratorio. Además, es importante establecer un rango de normalidad apropiado para la tirotropina (TSH), considerar los factores de alto riesgo en los individuos en estudio y conocer las repercusiones en el estado de salud. Como las consecuencias en los distintos aparatos y sistemas del organismo se previenen, mejoran o resuelven con una dosis de sustitución hormonal tiroidea adecuada, no excesiva; la detección y tratamiento oportunos de la disfunción tiroidea subclínica pueden ser benéficos en la población general.
