¿Es fisiológicamente recomendable ingerir mucha agua y es esta conducta correcta?

Prácticamente no hay paciente que me refieran para valorar por insuficiencia renal, desde leve a grave, que no le hayan recomendado su médico tratante u otras personas que consumiera mucha agua.
La razón fisiopatológica para esta conducta terapéutica es bastante irracional. Lo más grave de esta situación es que los pacientes que vemos los nefrólogos, sólo representan un porcentaje menor de los que sufren daño renal crónico y que se les recomienda que ingieran grandes cantidades de agua. No es infrecuente que estos enfermos acudan al consultorio con sus sendas botellas de agua y frente a mí ingieran líquido.
