La inmunodeficiencia común variable (ICV) es una enfermedad que se caracteriza por disminución de los niveles séricos de inmunoglobulinas (IgG, IgM, IgA) y mayor susceptibilidad a infecciones. Es una inmunodeficiencia primaria, dentro de éstas es la más común, se estima que hasta la tercera parte de las inmunodeficiencias primarias se deben a la ICV. En los pacientes con ICV han sido descritos varios defectos en los linfocitos T y diversas alteraciones en la diferenciación de los linfocitos B. Afecta por igual a hombres y mujeres, las manifestaciones clínicas principales son infecciones respiratorias recurrentes (senos paranasales, bronquios y pulmones).
