Abdomen agudo quirúrgico en el paciente geriátrico

RESUMEN

Antecedentes. El manejo quirúrgico del abdomen agudo es una patología que presenta una elevada morbimortalidad; el presente estudio analiza el manejo entre los pacientes jóvenes y los geriátricos. Resultados. Se seleccionaron 134 pacientes, de los cuales 110 eran menores de 64 años (Grupo A) y los 24 restantes eran ≥ 65 años (Grupo B). En el Grupo A, 32 (29.1%) de los pacientes presentaron antecedentes patológicos con sólo una patología en 85% de los casos y en el Grupo B sólo 18 (75%) pacientes, siendo en 70% de los casos la patología múltiple. Los días de estancia intrahospitalaria para el Grupo A fueron en promedio de tres días y en el Grupo B de siete días. Conclusiones. El manejo del abdomen agudo del paciente geriátrico en el Hospital Juárez de México tiene una mayor mortalidad, la cual se relaciona con el número de patologías previas, esto hace que el paciente geriátrico presente un postoperatorio generalmente complicado, lo cual aumenta su estancia hospitalaria.
