Recomendaciones generales para el tratamiento en la transición perimenopáusica

RESUMEN
Antecedentes: la atención médica en la perimenopausia requiere la utilización de distintos recursos terapéuticos.
Objetivo: definir estrategias para la atención de la mujer perimenopáusica que favorezcan un envejecimiento saludable.
Método: revisión de los factores y las modificaciones del estilo de vida que pueden prevenir enfermedades en la perimenopausia.
Resultados: la composición de la dieta y el control del peso influyen en el riesgo cardiovascular y óseo. Es difícil conseguir cambios permanentes en los hábitos dietéticos y faltan datos concluyentes sobre los resultados de estas recomendaciones, pero comienzan a surgir trabajos de mayor calidad que muestran el beneficio cardiovascular y óseo de la actividad física y los programas específicos de ejercicio. Es necesario suprimir los hábitos tóxicos, dado el mayor riesgo que implican. Múltiples estudios sugieren el beneficio de consumir complementos fitoterapéuticos, pero faltan ensayos clínicos bien diseñados que justifiquen esa recomendación.
Conclusiones: el correcto estado nutricional, una dieta adecuada, el control del peso, la práctica habitual de ejercicio y la supresión de hábitos tóxicos son medidas aplicables en la transición perimenopáusica que pueden mejorar la salud de la mujer durante el resto de su vida. La identificación individualizada del riesgo de enfermedades justifica las recomendaciones.
