RESUMEN
Esta revisión tiene como propósito: 1. Hacer conciencia de que en las Unidades de Cuidados Intensivos neonatales y unidades anexas, los niños recién nacidos son sometidos a procedimientos dolorosos como parte de su tratamiento y sus cuidados rutinarios. 2. Sugerir el empleo de escalas de medición del dolor en algunas de las pautas de manejo de los neonatos. 3. Proponer estrategias de prevención y atenuar el dolor asociado a los procedimientos de rutina, ciertas intervenciones quirúrgicas y a procedimientos mayores.
