Obesidad y litiasis

RESUMEN
La litiasis vesicular es una patología muy frecuente que
implica grandes costos a los sistemas de salud. Es una
enfermedad multifactorial, donde factores ambientales y
del huésped se encuentran involucrados. La obesidad es
uno de los factores de riesgo más importantes para el
desarrollo de litiasis, esto cobra mayor importancia ante el
incremento en su prevalencia a nivel mundial. Se observa
que el metabolismo del colesterol favorece el incremento en
la secreción biliar de colesterol además de ocasionar
alteraciones en la motilidad de la vesícula que en conjunto
favorecen la producción de litiasis vesicular. En este
artículo se mencionan los aspectos epidemiológicos y
fisiopatológicos de la asociación entre obesidad y litiasis
vesicular.
