Actualización sobre el síndrome de ovario poliquístico

RESUMEN
El síndrome de ovario poliquístico (SOP) es la endocrinopatía más frecuente en mujeres en edad reproductiva. Tiene una etiología de probable origen multifactorial, mas no bien conocida actualmente. Las manifestaciones clínicas incluyen alteraciones menstruales y datos de hiperandrogenismo (hirsutismo, acné). Los criterios diagnósticos están definos en los Criterios de Rotterdan, en adolescentes difiere de los criterios utilizados en mujeres adultas, ya que algunas de las manifestaciones se dan de forma fisiológica por la inmadurez del eje hipotálamo-hipófisis-ovárico. Además, deben descartarse otros diagnósticos diferenciales. El manejo del SOP es multimodal y multidisciplinario, combinando cambios de estilo de vida y uso de fármacos.
