INTRODUCCIÓN
La hidratación es un proceso de consumo de agua que aporta grandes
beneficios y mantiene la homeostasis hídrica de un organismo. Las
fuentes de hidratación en el mundo se han diversificado en razón de la
amplia disponibilidad de productos hídricos para el consumo humano.
La calidad de los mismos es igualmente variable y van desde los que
aportan solo agua hasta aquellos que contienen vitaminas, minerales,
electrolitos, azúcares, edulcorantes no calóricos, colorantes, entre
otros constituyentes.
La oferta excesiva, el aprendizaje y preferencia en la vida temprana,
así como la insuficiente regulación han permitido que la población
mundial obtenga la cantidad de agua que requiere a través de fuenhttps
tes no saludables, es decir, que por su aporte
de dulzor, calorías, carga de sodio y de otros
solutos, involucran un riesgo para la salud de
los que lo consumen, incluyendo a los niños y
adolescentes. El consumo de fuentes de hidratación
no saludable es un factor de riesgo para el
desarrollo la obesidad, su control y tratamiento,
así como de sus complicaciones.
