Mecanismos de transporte de gas durante la ventilación de alta frecuencia en recién nacidos

RESUMEN
La ventilación de alta frecuencia (VAF) es una alternativa para el manejo de recién nacidos con insuficiencia respiratoria severa. Se han descrito cinco modos de transporte: 1. Ventilación alveolar directa. 2. Péndulo. 3. Dispersión convectiva con perfil de velocidad asimétrico. 4. Dispersión tipo Taylor y 5. Difusión molecular. Estos modos de transporte no se excluyen uno a otro sino que interactúan. En este informe se revisan las ventajas, desventajas y los efectos cardiovasculares y del sistema nervioso central con el empleo de la VAF.
