Introducción
Las lesiones vasculares del tracto gastrointestinal se reconocen con una frecuencia cada vez mayor como causa de hemorragia del tubo digestivo, a consecuencia del incremento en la realización de endoscopia y angiografía.
La hemorragia originada de malformaciones vasculares cecales es una identidad bien reconocida; la colonoscopia ha demostrado que las ectasias vasculares pueden ser hallazgos incidentales no hemorrágicos o también ser causa de hemorragia oculta crónica. Al mismo tiempo el desarrollo de técnicas terapéuticas endoscópicas ha determinado el uso de la colonoscopia como alternativa en su tratamiento. Se han descrito también en el tracto gastrointestinal superior. Pueden ser únicas o múltiples, anormalidades aisladas o parte de un síndrome.
