Tratamiento quirúrgico de la insuficiencia cardiaca terminal

RESUMEN

La insuficiencia cardiaca terminal con poca o nula respuesta al tratamiento médico ha sido un reto para el médico, ya que además de deteriorar la calidad de vida de los pacientes tiene una tasa elevada de mortalidad. El tratamiento quirúrgico en la actualidad es básicamente el trasplante cardiaco, que conlleva a normas precisas: la selección de donador y receptor adecuado, el tipo de terapia inmunosupresora y el control de ésta para mejorar la sobrevida de los pacientes. Otros procedimientos que se han desarrollado son la cardiomioplastía, la cirugía de Batista, la ventriculotomía parcial y el uso de diversos dispositivos mecánicos de apoyo ventricular.
