INTRODUCCIÓN
En términos generales, se define como neuropatía periférica a aquel cuadro sindrómico derivado de la alteración patológica de uno o varios nervios periféricos. Las neuropatías por compresión están incluidas dentro de éstas cuando afectan a un solo nervio.Sin embargo, también puede haber otras causas e inclusive estar combinadas, por ejemplo, con un proceso metabólico y afectar a varios nervios. La compresión puede presentarse en cualquier parte de su trayecto, pero hay regiones que por sus características anatómicas son más susceptibles de causar un atrapamiento.
