Galectina 3 en el diagnóstico del cáncer folicular de tiroides

RESUMEN
La galectina 3 es una lectina que tiene funciones intra y extracelulares. Su expresión se suprarregula
en la transformación neoplásica de las células del epitelio folicular tiroideo. Su identificación mediante
inmunohistoquímica en tejidos y biopsias por aspiración de lesiones tiroideas brinda una
alternativa de utilidad significativa para el diagnóstico preoperatorio del carcinoma folicular de
tiroides.
