FRAGMENTO
El abdomen es una cavidad cerrada, en la cual el incremento en la presión tiene efectos nocivos que pueden llegar a poner en peligro la vida del enfermo.
En 1863 Marey fue el primero en relacionar el incremento en la presión intraabdominal con disfunción respiratoria, posteriormente en 1890, Heinricus, en modelos experimentales con gatos y cobayos, demostró que presiones intraabdominales de 27 a 46 cmH
2O eran fatales y relacionó esto a disfunción respiratoria secundaria a interferencia con excursión torácica. En 1911 Emerson describió que, además de los cambios respiratorios, la hipertensión intraabdominal se asociaba a disfunción cardiovascular lo cual incrementaba la morbimortalidad. Fue en 1913 cuando Wendt, describió a la oliguria como parte de las complicaciones asociadas de lo que llamó Síndrome de hipertensión intraabdominal.
