Avances en el diagnóstico prenatal de las cardiopatías congénitas

RESUMEN
Las cardiopatías congénitas son la causa más frecuente de malformaciones
al nacimiento. Su gran importancia radica, principalmente,
en que suponen 46% de las muertes neonatales y en
que se asocian, a más largo plazo, con moderada morbilidad, sin
dejar de ser uno de los grupos de malformaciones más difíciles
de diagnosticar. El objetivo de esta revisión es: analizar las técnicas
de imagen actualmente disponibles y reconocer su utilidad
real frente a la ecocardiografía convencional para la detección
temprana de cardiopatías congénitas. La introducción de nuevas
técnicas de diagnóstico ecocardiográfico prenatal ha supuesto un
cambio en la orientación de la detección de cardiopatías congénitas
que permiten la obtención de imágenes de mayor calidad
y resolución anatómica, la posibilidad de análisis a distancia y la
ventaja en comparación con el diagnóstico de estructuras hasta
entonces muy difíciles de evaluar, como las venas pulmonares. Sin
embargo, no se dispone de estudios poblacionales a gran escala
que hayan podido traducir esa ventajas en mejoras reales en la
tasa de diagnóstico de cardiopatías en poblaciones no seleccionadas,
aunque los resultados sean prometedores.
